Well friends finally I completed watching this movie. It’s a 3 hour marathon and a must watch for those who love war epics. It’s not like Saving Private Ryan or any of those hero’s movie where it’s an adventure in war ravaged world. It’s more in the way of cult movies like Apocalypse Now or Full Metal jacket. Let me put straight all these movies are about the complexity of human relation and ill effects of war.
Deer Hunter is a pure drama that captures life of three friends, who are Pennsylvanian Boy’s and hunting deer over the weekend. But fate took them to the Vietnam War where they are captured. Their captors make them play Russian roulette. The pun is here these 3 here a Russian Americans. Now I won’t reveal more about the movie, but will let you know 3 of them are able to escape from the captivation. Now how there world is effected and changed forever forms the background of this movie. It’s a serious American movie.
I really cannot put in words what this movie tries to deal with it, the horror of the wars or the after effects or it just want to tell a story of friendship. It’s too good a movie to be left out.Cimone was never able to replicate it again and such movies cannot be made in today’s time.
All should remember after watching this movie “You should always get a Deer in one shoot.”
