I forgot to wish the dwindling readers at WAO, chalo I still do this happy holi. Is holi your favorite Indian festival or you attached with it as you have to.

To start off, there is much mythological and other kind of stories for the origin of this festival. In recent years it has evolved a lot. The most important thing, which I saw about holi was, it was not an expensive festival as other Indian festival were used to be. Diwali you end up spending a fortune and holi you need to buy Rs 100 gullal and I think nothing else specific.

You reach year 2009, even holi is not untouched with commercialization, at least in big cities, now gigantic theme sort of parties are thrown. These private parties are for the elite and again mentioned earlier is status symbol for many. Going to one is must, if you not Ekta’s party than you missing out on lot.

The poor man still is having it the old way. For him it hold’s the importance and I see the true joy on his face. This is the only festival he used to enjoy in equal with the rich.
How can I forgot the Shiv bhakts here, they get a special excuse to enjoy. You can have those special pakoda’s and thandai. It takes loads of effort next day to wake up, but it too is an experience of lifetime.

What I want to point here is that holi now is quite different in small town like Mathura or Benaras as compared to Pune or Mumbai. It is different for cable watching India to the radio listening India. Meaning or no meaning this festival is more for color so you just enjoy. Thou this give the best excuse for people to fight out as there is direct physical contact and loads of such incident being reported every year but love for it never dwindle.

Last I do not like people who do not like this fest all together. Reservations are ok but no liking is just too much even here at WOA.

Welcome Note :-
Godspeak welcome to WAO, I am looking forward to the amazing sense of humor you have refined over the year. I am looking forward to the story in which you would like SRK to hemm ( kidding I know you like that bloke). It is open world here no restriction, post here with stamp or no stamp.
Ehooo!!
