Friends, have you ever been a witness to a murder. I have been a witness and also feel contributed to the reason. It is an old story; I just remembered it when I heard this song “Shoot me again”. You be feeling I am too cold, talking about a shooting / murder in such a tone, hear all this crap and make your mind.

It was 10 year back; we guys have got new licenses to drive and never missed a chance for a long drive. It was a cold winter, when my friend Chiku asked me to accompany him to Chandigarh and back. He has to drop some boxes of apple and to be back to the city on the same day. He promised to let me drive till Solan on the way. It was tempting offer and I was in. By the way, I forgot to introduce my friend Chiku. Chiku is Chika’s younger brother, so being vibrant and conflicting was in his blood. He was a music junkie and our taste for St. Anger bonded us like anything. He been a rally champ, not exactly of Raid de Himalaya type, but the unofficial road rash we had in our small city. And last not the least he was a hunter, hunter like me, who love to shoot, but shoot with his Camera.

We wanted to start early and be back in town before the sunset, but like usual it is never the plan but the will that works. We had some other plans and for them to work, we have to be late. By 5 pm, we were free from our work Chandigarh and started our drive back to the city. In a hour we had entered Himachal, when Chiku stepped down the paddle and told me that we are still too early to be back home. I did not get what he was up to, but I had the hint. He had planned it already “ We are going through the rough road from Parwanoo to Kasauli and then Kasauli to Dharmapur and back to Shimla. The rough road has no traffic and it is the best to drive fast and got the feel of night driving”. I was in, who will ignore such a tempting drive. I have already seen the road, it was treacherous till Kasauli and it was dense jungle.

We tossed the coin and it was Chiku till Kasauli and then it was I who was going to drive till Shimla. We had this 1000 cc Maruti , only bad thing about it was it felt heavy when talking right turns. We plugged in St. Anger and started off. Chiku had brought in a map with him and he wanted me to be his navigator. He wanted to be a rally driver, and I have seen him drive any vehicle will excellent maneuvering and control. 3 Km down the road, I had no plan to navigate and left him to find his way. I thought he will slow down without instruction but he had made up his mind to reach kasauli in 25 min. I imagine, he would have been the first man to do so. I took to music and closed by eye.

I think we thumped into something. We were hearing to “Shoot me again” when it happened. It was a powerful thump; I was woken up from my sleep. I saw Chika face and he has turned pale. He looked into my eye and said seems I have hit something. I was also terrified and was afraid to get out. I was able to see few lights on distance hills and I was sure no human habitats will be nearby. I asked him to take reverse and get out of here. He said he is not able to do that. We had a torch and I made up my mind to come out of the car and inspect.

I was just praying, it should not be a human. To be amazement we had hit a Cheetal and he was down in front of our car. It was a big animal, I assume it was 200 kg and too big in real. I asked Chiku to come out and see what he has done. He had panicked and he tried crying, for killing a deer. I said shut man, it is an accident. Let me first confirm for your kill. I do not know how to check the pulse or heartbeat of the beast. I did not see any blood around and so asked Chiku to bring in some water to wake him up. I splashed water and it was all in vain. I had comparatively less emotion then to Chiku, due to my hunter origin. To make it more worse for him, was enthusiastic wild life person. Anyhow, I did not wanted to spend the place in Jungle moaning for a deer, which we have meet 5 min ago. I asked to Chiku to push the deer of the road with me, down the gorge.

He refused to do so and started crying like anything. The panic has set in; the beast was too big for me to drag along alone. We cannot reverse the car, we cannot move forward. Chiku said to me that Deer must be alive, we should take him to the vet and try to rescue him.” That was the last thing on my mind. I got little more insensitive and took out his camera from the car and asked him to take few pics for our kill for record. Bad luck, we had run out of roll. I was hunter from origin and something took me over. Why do not take this deer to the city? How many people would have killed this big deer? And if someone asked us, we will state this to be an accident and will have some pics to keep the records of incident.

Chiku by now, was pushing the deer, but cannot move it, I too started pushing along with him. After an effort of 1 hour, we were able to push the deer into the back of our car. Who is going to drive the car now? It has to be me, Chiku was too crushed. I was sure, he will be happy, when people will talk about his kill. I took the wheel and he took to his handkerchief. I drive slowly. I was trying to convince him, it is not that bad to kill animal. But he was a nature lover and loving heart. I was cold like a hunter, thinking this to be surprise prized kill, to be talked in ample.

We have moved few corners towards Kasauli and Chiku by now has stopped crying. I was driving cautiously, the only thing in my mind was how we will explain this to his father or people back home. We have no business on this road. I asked Chiku to cheer up, but he was in deep grief after killing the deer. I was assuming it may be end of a promising career, wish If I would have navigated, he would have got more time to break. Any how I was sure people will like to cook and eat this beast. I have heard they taste good. I was in all mood to take mileage out of this kill and was thinking to have different versions of stories to tell different people, depending upon their maturity and sensibility.

Chiku has gone in state of shock, for him it was a murder of a living being and I tried my best to explain that this is a kill. Chiku was not in good mood to hear my logics and then I thought to sooth the atmosphere I should play some music. Metallica was back “Shoot me again, I am aint dead yet?” How cruel to be song of the moment. But I let it carry on, as other songs would have been more inappropriate for the moment. Chiku was still frowning like a frog. I was possessed to claim the prize.

We were just on the verge of the Kasauli town; I had started seeing lights, when something hit me hard on back of my seat. It was those rare moments when I got it right the very first time. I stopped the car on the middle of the road and asked Chiku to get out of the car; the beast was alive and kicking. We two were out of the car; I was in shocked state and was thinking about what will happen to the car, If I remember correctly I was shouting like hell. Chiku had a smile in face, he was contrast to me. He went toward the car and softly opened the door; the beast jumped out, stared at both of us and galloped into the darkness of the night. It all happened so fast, before I would have been out of disbelief, Chiku was at the wheel of the car and pumping the horn for me to get in.

I was silent for my restlessness, I did not what took over me there, it was a primitive instinct I thought. I was planning to cook the beast when reached home and my friend was thinking to moan for him for rest of his life.

We did not talk for the rest of the way, until the track “Shoot me again” played again. Chiku asked me not to talk about the incident as no one will believe us and will mock for rest of the winter and was sure it will go on for rest of our life. I said “We had the smell of a beast trapped in our car, it won’t go off easily”. He said shut up and listens to the music.

We never talked about this incident to any one and this is the first record of the incident. I am not sure how much you believe me, but I know Chiku will testify for this one day of his life.

You are hit by devil and taken away by angel, if you have lived blind till last breathe…………

The cliché “keep working, he is watching you, will get what you deserve.” I cannot bear this forever.

I had one weakness that is not able to focus on long run. I will put one science fact across, I am sure your science teacher must have told you. Have you noticed the ziz zag motion of a particle in morning light? Like me few of you have done the ill attempt of catching them unsuccessfully. This must happen to us or this is what happening to us?

What I write often is my outlook of the new age society which is developing like a burgeon. The thunder and the lightening strike make it pop out of the ground. It is poisonous, it can be medicated, it can be dusty, it can be beautiful, and it can be anything. It has been pleasure to see the joy and misery of this society. I was growing up with socialist ideology, to become a capitalist, to be cheated to be one non conformist of this society, to one who discovers there is no society, to understand what I see now.

I am scared of akrosh that is building up in this society. It is going to be a disaster; I think this must be the feeling of great civilization of lost. The perfection, the order is the biggest sign of doom.

I do not know, how to take out my anger, it is like beating a drum till it explodes. Science cannot help me, as it has no pill for anger management. Society will call me a misfit, but that will also not going to solve my purpose; it will only lead to deterioration of existing harmony.

I had to take the Readon path and have to abandon this basic set up of society. It is too unrealistic to be liked by me. But I am weak, I cannot emulate my heroes, they were in fiction. I cannot imitate the air of thoughts; it never takes the solid form.

The disgruntled enchantment is going to be there, for you and me, who had seen the new age. I can be sad for a day, but I am destined to live happy. I am too strong to be consumed by meek surroundings. I still not able to give up hope and that what has made me the Iron Man of my own comic.

And for those, who have read me more than Aristotle or Plato “ The joy is being knocked out once, not in getting defeated all along”.

This is not a blank; it is something I need to specify soon.

It was a cottage, placed in the wilderness,

I was sitting in dark, waiting for them to join,

Slow music playing in, Deer’s and sheep were dancing in my head,

The table in front of me was rocking,

The glass and bottle stare at me imperfectly,

Temptation were dark as always, wait got agonizing,

Golden color in silver light, I cannot be more poetic,

I break the law, took few sip to warm off,

It was cold and unnerving; they never seem to appear,

I gutted one for those, for whom I kept waiting,

I enjoyed it a bit more, wait is always fruitful,

2, 3 and 4, I had enough, to have a new soul,

Then it happened the first one come and sit next to me,

Shuffled the cards, placed the deck on board,

Got a wicked smile, gutted 2 more as a welcome breeze,

5 and 6, no more counts, 2 more come and sat in,

Cards in hand, I did played joker to the game of poker,

The one on east seem to be my shade from young,

The one on west seem to be my image from present,

The one from no direction seem to be my reflection from future,

All laughed with me, drinking my whiskey,

All cried with me, sipping my whiskey,

Last drop spilled on floor, it created magic,

She appeared and all boys vanished,

She grew stronger in color, I grew pale,

I needed more to my head, to make her wane,

She had made it sure, it did not happen,

I got a hiding behind my 6 edged bottle,

She grew brighter in color,

I remembered nothing after that…

I think I slept on floor, milo licking my face,

That’s how often party ends,

It is a voyage of a pendulum,

Time is constant, gravity useless,

Poet in me wakes up, the very next day,,,,

It has been long time and I had not talked about Chika, my best pal. Now he is a doctor and as a part of his contract he is working in a remote Indian village. The village has DTH, telephone line, a dispensary, I think even a small time police post but still it is remote on paper.

Chika with all the comforts of a city still feel he is trapped in a remote junction. Poor boy called me up and even convinced me that he is in a remote world. I asked him what worries you man, is it the poor or the illiterate or the goons that all I expected in my answer. He said no.

He asked me to watch some old Indian village oriented films and then to discuss this. I went back and refilled my knowledge of India with Kisna, lagan and Swades. Poor chaps but that was also not the remote India. I updated chika with my findings. Chika was not impressed and asked me you need to check the movies like do beega jameen, prem rog and some more movies that touched the issues.

I had not watched these movies and even if I had, that would not have helped me, I do not get more out of movie other than the last song. I asked Chika, do not waste my time, talk straight I already end up watching lagan for the 3rd time coz of him.

Have you ever hated a man coz he is not of your caste. I said absolutely not. Have you seen the lust in your eyes for all helpless women? Nope, woman being helpless is like Tyson being a beautician. Have you ever been treated like not being offered water coz u eat with a person of other religion. May be yes, but I was offered Coke in its place. Have you ever discriminated any one for not being from your part of country? I have to think F Naga was an exception, even Nagaland had no place for him.

Chika as you all know is cuil as a cucumber but today he lost his peace and banged his receiver. May be he got pissed I did not watched the movies he was talking about. Any way I will buy him a nice lunch next weekend when I go home.

Wait – This did not end up like this, I though what my best frenzo was going through and in the lunch session we did concluded my swades is still remote. No DTH no literacy campaign no roads can bring that rays of enlightenment.

Buddha bhalle Kare !!!

A year ago had a friend, who fell in love,

It happened in an instance, few scraps travelled across,

7 to be precise, 30 min exactly to fell in love,

A day went; they had bought a dedicated reliance,

A week went; he shopped and shipped chocs and teddy bears,

How fast was love, people questioned me,

I was the best friend, but did not knew when he took a flight to meet her,

I was convinced it was love not anything else,

When I chauffeured the love beings on a snowy day.

I felt like a cupid, it was my laptop and my words in those scraps,

Which lit the fire?

Time went I lost the track of the story, as it seemed too boring,

When I heard the two going to get married.

A day ago I got my favorites mode of communication,

He pinged me on a communicator to know he not going to marry her,

My first reaction was poor boy; she must have used her,

I wanted to take my words back, of being the cupid,

I wanted to know why Hally left Sally or the other way around,

My first call was to his brother, he told me they were made for each other,

One was a MBBS and other a MBA, how often do you see such a match,

He reasoned gal was self centered to run all in to trouble,

Ohh I see my boy was in love with a doctor, my mistake I should have warned,

I was not convinced that they run into trouble, it seemed to be dark and deceptive,

I heard another story in evening, gal meet a boy who was an MD,

Things were to shock me in morning when I get my friends invitation,

He is marrying a gal who working at a 7 digit package with a MNC,

Love seem to confuse the cupid only, people do rise and fall like a tide,

Do not take much out of it, west wrote it as a testimony of witnessing love.

I went through the last post and kept on thinking for hours something from reality I can quote here. I do remember a few incidents but not sure they will make an interesting read as the last post from Garg saab.

The train incident invoked a scene in my eyes from long time back. I was in my first year of engineering and was going home for the first time after 15 grilling day of ragging. The last bus to Shimla use to come at 12:30 am. We reached the station somewhat at 11:30 pm. It was a normal bus stop as you can find anywhere in country. Some of those 24 hours tea shop and few people on the bench waiting and some poor fellows sleeping on the floor. Hmm,What else I am missing here is the stinking smell around and some drunken masters roaming.

We were 4 in number and had been told by our ragging seniors to be bold and fearful in town, else will be ragged by the town boys. The reason for that was we had that peculiar faces now with jangu cut hairs and all of us wearing baggy pants, anybody living in that town can figure it out we were the lambs.

It was the start of a night we all cannot forget, we were going back to home after 15 days in a new place, and most importantly today we all can roar. Shanky has his own way to roar, he gutted some black drink and he was now the king of his time. We all too had our fun bit, had a nice dinner at Sharma dhaaba and entered the bus station as we had conquered the last frontier.

The show begun, we entered and were at our noisy best. Someone among us end up breaking a glass and it just end up waking up everyone. A few guys sitting towards the end of the terminal, jestered us to come there. Chika pointed out must be senior, but I was adamant they do not roam in city that late to rag, get loose of your fear, must be some city gooonies. A tall looking guy asked us which branch, I said whats you business man. I think he felt offended, but who cares we were in the city and would not let these city boys rag us. I asked him any problem mate, we are out of Towner and what is the issue. Surprise surprise surprise, one of our second year senior come to this guy bowing them his head and went to bring one more glass of water. Bad luck as I suppose, but before anything would have happened, a bus comes into the station steaming in. He let us go with a promise to meet in college where the ruler was for sure.

I think our bad luck had just begun; it was the bus going to Chamba and not the bus we were looking for. In 15 min it left and was nervous that senior guys will call us again, to our luck they have boarded the bus to Chamba, that’s why they leaved us. Shanky was missing by now, someone had seen him boarding the bus, I was fully convinced he was on his way to Chamba, he was always weak in geography and left these small boarding bus issue to me. Above all he was little drunk too.

What next, someone told us the bus today is not coming, next bus will be coming at 3:00 am. So we were one man down and 4 hours to wait. We were not worried about shanky as we know he can pull this one out, he already has been on a wrong bus before. At 1:00 am a gang of boys entered and they were drunk like hell. For a moment seemed like Engg. Student going back to college from home, so must have come to board the bus.

One of them, as I come to know latter in my stay in town as Jimmy was singing a strange song “ kyounke saas bhi kabhi bhau thi?” Had not heard about this till date, but he was stuck on this line and was kicking every beggar or poor denizen sleeping on the platform. They were local boys and were drunk, and above all were too much annoying. I was already pissed and now they were making this saas act. I was sitting on a bench when Jimmy ended up kicking a sadhu on stomach and asked him to leave his platform. I do not know from an instinct, I just looked into Jimmy eye with anger, he got freeze frame. My friends too had frozen as they were smelling a panga and knew how hot headed I was during those days. Jimmy I do not know had the fear of his life in his eye and I kept on starring into his eyes. His friends took him away and I too was escorted away from that place. I still do not know, why we people do not end up punching each other, all ingredients were right. I was not knowing why I lost my cuil, but knew it has given the sadhu a chance to slip back to sleep.

Even today when Jimmy and I talk about this, he never forgets to apologies about the incidence and says my reaction was due to the divine intervention of god. He had ended up kicking a holy man that seems to be reason of reaction. I think it was due to the frustration creped in due to the incidents of the night. But it soon was going to be fine that night. Shanky was back in some bus, as he figured it out that after one hour no one trying to pull his leg so he must be going in wrong way. He too had known Jimmy from some old reference, we guys end up hugging each other and Jimmy too was sober by now. All of us keep on asking, what it means “ kyounki saas bhi kabhi bhau thi”.

Our bus come at 3:00 am and some gals from medical college were there in bus, it stuck gold when one of them end up my tution mate, we end up travelling back to shi, playing anatakshri and sleeping.

It is still mystery what it means “ kyonki saas bhi kabhi bhau thi?”

How can i forget that moment when i was going back from my hometown to Delhi to go further going down to the Oxford city of India. Trains were delayed due to the fogs in the  month of Jan. To catch my flight i had to leave that train and find some alternative to reach Palam airport on time. So i left Kisan expess at a the small station of Bahadurgarh near Rhotak.it was not much crowded early morning at 9 am. While i was rushing to find some alternative and picking all my luggage to get out at this small platform, an unforgettable strange thing happened.deepak

One Sardarji just standing on the other side of the platform beside a railway tea stall under a small shed..eyes focused on the paper..like alone in this whole world..this platform seemed too small for his type. Don’t know from where a stray ugly looking, hairy, medium size dog of some unknown breed was running ignorant of his poor existence between humans..although tortured, fed and used by same humans. Just coming like a unguided missile towards sardarji and can you imagine he just jumped on sarderji…and out of sheer surprise..sardarji became aware about what was happening around him…aware about crude reality that ugly dog was on him….to take little bite of his flesh….

Widely followed ahinsa philosophy in this country suggests that attacking first is not a righteous trait of living in the egalitarian society…even you can take 3 attacks before deciding your strategy of revenge....or you may wish that this ugly thing would be punished in the next birth with same force and terror by some unknown superpower of universe which has created us to strike a true balance between the mortals..or…may be last thing which could have crossed your mind is if you have strength, courage enough to take teeth for teeth in this world itself without asking for any divine intervention…it seems due to perpetual attacks on northern region of country…nature taught this thing in better degree to them..

Dog would seem foolish now and must have cursed his luck to attack on such a unfateful day…things took another crazy turn….Sardarji was quick enough to escape the jump of dog…and with a lightening speed grabbed dog from his tail…it seemed like magic how he was able to manage things so quickly…with dog flying in air in circles and his little tail supporting whole of his body…dog seemed so surprised with his cute face…that even he was not able to bark…his red, long watery tongue was out of his mouth..like he was also enjoyin g his luck in the hands of the sardarji….bold sardarji…with his red angry face…big eyes…big turban seemed like Mahakal (God of Death) to the poor dog..at that moment it seemed anything was possible for him with that courage & boldness

And the next moment dog was flying in air…guess what the sardarji did next….he just left the tail of the dog after 3 full circles…and the dog was trying to catch the ground with his legs in the air..and when he landed on the ground…his previous lion like roar turned into a mere myew-myew of cat…without wasting a second…dog just vanished from the scene..Sardarji handled situation so dexterously like an experienced hand on such kind of things..

I wanted to congratulate him as a curious watcher..but another journey to the airport had already started on noisy, pollution friendly auto rickshaw..
